Why Puglia
Why visit Puglia?
Puglia has a great deal to offer in every season and is still very unknown by a vast number of tourists.
The winter months, January to March, are climatically variable and always mild, the countryside a lush green. Wonderful for car excursions, no traffic, an extensive countryside dotted throughout by small towns and villages and what's more the restaurants are always open! (except those immediately by the seaside). We can suggest shopping, bicycle rides, horse riding, wine-tasting, local markets, something for everyone!
Spring, March to June, artists and camera enthusiasts will be artistically fully rewarded, by the fields and roadsides full of wild flowers, a kaleidoscope of colour, Klimt's masterpieces will surely come to mind. Fields are protected by stonewalls and are studded with ancient, gnarled olive trees, witnesses to Puglia's heritage.
During the summer months of July and August nature adapts to the rising temperatures, the red earth reflecting the suns rays, the predominant Mistral breeze ensuring a pleasant and dry climate. Long summer days to be enjoyed to the full, everything one needs to switch-off and appreciate the holiday!
September and October have always been the months for the fortunate. Beaches, restaurants, golf. Enjoy a full-immersion into Puglia's inheritance. Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Longobards, Arabs, Normans, Turks, French, Spanish and last but not least Frederick II, the Holy Roman Emperor, all came and left their customs, their DNA, influence of which is still very apparent. Many different dialects, culinary specialties, religious customs are still very predominant.
The months of October to December, again to be enjoyed to the full. The fields are brimming with delicious vegetables and the freshly fished fish is at its best. The olive trees are wanting to be ridden of their heavy load ready to offer one of the world's tastiest olive oil. Not to be missed the various religious festivals that enrich this period.
There's lots more to be discovered, if you are thinking about a dream holiday time has come to visit Puglia.
Looking forward to welcoming you
Joan & Dario
